I've got some applications that I *always* compile myself because anytime someone else does it, I find their options not the best (No offense to the Arch builders) so I intend to setup a local repository to keep everything kosher with the Arch system.
However, I would like to blacklist any package in my repository from the global repository.
Example:
I always compile mutt myself. I patch it to hell and customize it to fit my needs, so whenever the Arch version is updated.. I don't want it to even try to upgrade it unless MINE is the one being updated.
Favorite Software:
Openbox3 - Mutt - Vim - GNU Screen

It is possible and look into pacman.conf which is self-explanatory.

it should suffice to put your repo before the arch repos, the installation is First Come First Served regardless of versions etc.

It's been a while since I used Arch but I do seem to remember that being true when I did my local repository, I just forgot.
Very handy.
