hi all !
I got problem with mplayer. While playing, when I push "f" key, it doesn't switch to full screen.
Same when I use the -fs flag...
I suspect xorg issue. Coud anyone confirm my feeling ? and, tell me how to fixe that ?
Thanks very muc,
Namlook

What video card are you using? What video driver is listed in your xorg.conf?
Try mplayer -vo xv -fs myvideo.mpg ...
When you say it doesn't go full screen... does it make the whole screen black, but play the video at the normal size in the middle?

lol i ALSO have an nvidia card, with the nvidia driver on xorg. and mine works great.
what window manager or desktop environment are you using? all the major ones should work though....
perhaps you can try the mplayer chatroom (#mplayer on freenode.net)

good luck with that !
My experience withe the mplayer mailing list and irc channel is not good, but maybe it was just me...
It's worth playing around with some options and seeing what happens. I have an nvidia card and I can get fullscreen using xv, gl, gl2 and sdl video outputs. If I use x11 then I get the same thing as you. If you want to use x11 then you could also try the -zoom option, although this requires a lot of processing power so my poor athlon can't cope...
ALso, try starting it without x by using the vesa or cvidix drivers. You might be able to establish if it is an xorg issue then.

Are you guys using any of the new xorg extensions?
How about adding geometry option (check mplayer manual) ?
Anything interesting in mplayer output (when run from xterm)?
Anything in xorg log?
Anything in dmesg?
What wm/de are you using?

Just had a peek on the mplayer mailing list -
Apparently latest version (1.0pre5) has some issues with certain wm's - don't know what you guys are using but it may be important. Try using
-fstype fullscreen
(only with x11)
instead of -fs, and also have a look at the -vm option in the man page.
Also make sure x is at 16bpp

I'm curently using PekWM and I never got such problem before...
I 'll try with gl and gl2 video output tonight.. maybe it will work...
Nothing special about mplayer's output in console.
I notice another gotcha when using totem (I tried other sofware to see if it was only mplayer). When I lanched totem in pekwm, I got no image. But when I lanched gnome-control-panel and change the theme, totem begin to work great (?!?). I think packages have not enough tested before been put on official server
