[Solved] Cant Execute Pacman After Clean Install

Ive ran into this problem a couple of times and have no idea on how to fix it. At first I thought I solved it because I was running a script from an NTFS partition but when I copied it to my JFS partition it worked fine. I just installed the 32 bit version of arch and I copied the script over to my root ext4 partition from the NTFS partiton and it ran smoothly for about 30 seconds and then it keeps telling me this: bash: /usr/bin/pacman : Cannot Execute Binary File whats really odd was it downloaded a few packages via pacman then it decided it didnt want to work anymore. I ran chmod +x /usr/bin/pacman as root but it still says the same thing.

sounds like you've got a 32 / 64 bit issue going on.  you didn't happen to copy /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist form a 64bit machine to a 32bit machine did you? that'll bring in bad binaries with every pacman -Syu

i think thats what i was actually doing, after about a half hour of reinstalling and messing around with the script i realized that i was copying the mirrorlist of my 64 bit to my 32 bit. now im just trying to figure out how to write an if statement to check the architecture.

Re: [Solved] Cant Execute Pacman After Clean Install

haha, i just worked out what i believe to be some of the final bugs. Although I havent tried the kde4 choice (which worked before the architecture mod) or tried using it on a 64 bit system since I modded it. I'll update my thread with my new version once I get back into linux. Its not really meant for everyone, its more customized to what I do after an installation. The thread is more of a free backup solution lol

Feel free to use it, offer suggestions or pretty much do anything you want with it just give me credit for it big_smile
