Extracting individual glyphs from a TTF font file

Hi,

I have some TTF type hieroglyphic font files which include up to 5000 individual hieroglyphic glyphs each. I would like to view individual glyphs and if possible extarct them into individual scalable image files (svg?).

Is there any tool that can do this? How should I go on about witing a quick and simple application to display an individual glyph from the TTF font files?

My thanks in advance.

FontForge may be able to do what you want. It can do amazing things with fonts and is easy to script around:
