new motherboard/chipset compatibility with Arch

I just read about the nVidia Ion (Intel Atom 330/nVidia 9300 on one motherboard).  I'm wondering if anyone can comment on its Arch compatibility.  Have a look at the review at this URL.

Re: new motherboard/chipset compatibility with Arch

I'm thinking of buying the new Zotac ion-itx-b and have been trying to find out how well linux is supported by the ion-platform.

By judgin from a post at nvnews (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=125461) it seems to be supported by the standard drivers.

I'm not a drivers guru, nor an nvidia guy, but as far as I know the Arch package of the nvidia drivers should be ok to use.

It should just work. The problem will be finding one for sale - people like us are buying them all.

Re: new motherboard/chipset compatibility with Arch

I've been looking to build a low power home server / media centre and these look perfect...

The only thing I don't like about these particular boards is that they only have 2 SATA ports and 1 32-bit PCI slot.
It'd be nice to have either 4 SATA slots or at least a 64-bit PCI slot.

Pity about what Intel's doing to the price: http://www.reuters.com/article/technolo … OK20090518
You'd of thought they'd of learned roll

EDIT: looks like it has 3 SATA ports

I am also thinking of buying the Zotac ION-ITX-B (or Zotac ION-ITX-A). Does any of you built a running system? If so, how do you find the performance?

Thanks

Re: new motherboard/chipset compatibility with Arch

I recently got my Zotac ION (w/ Atom N330). However, after the installation grub won't boot up. It just shows a prompt, I can't do anything with it. I've tried both i686 and x86_64. . . I installed it with a USB stick, but it shouldn't matter.

Does anyone know how to solve this "error"?
