Segmentation fault, xbmc

Hello

I've recently discovered that the xbmc package have entered the community repository, thanks.

But when I installet it using "pacman -S xbmc" I encountered some trouble.

First I got the following error:

/usr/share/xbmc/xbmc.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpulse.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I solved it by installing the gstreamer0.10-pulse package. But then I encountered the following error:

/usr/share/xbmc/xbmc.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libcdio.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I never installed libcdio since it was said to be optional, and I'm not using xbmc to play media from my optical drive. Installing libcdio fixed this error. But now I've encountered a third error which I don't know how to get by:

/usr/bin/xbmc: line 8: 9996 Segmentation fault /usr/share/xbmc/xbmc.bin "$@"

Any ideas why this occurs and how to solve it? Is it my environment or is this package a bit rough?

Thanks
// Lasse

Re: Segmentation fault, xbmc

Hi Lazze.
libsamplerate and libcdio are both dependencies of XBMC. The 'xbmc' package doesn't include them as dependencies, it should.

See: http://xbmc.org/trac/browser/branches/l … ?rev=20400

In my experience you will have less hassle if you install 'xbmc-svn' from AUR. It isn't a raw SVN build, rather the SVN revision gets updated by the maintainers once that reversion has been confirmed to work OK on arch.

It also has a correct dependencies and works on 64bit archlinux.

link: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=20156

That segfault could be anything, but I expect you won't get it if you install the xbmc-svn instead.

Re: Segmentation fault, xbmc

Yeah, I'll probably try that out, I was running the AUR version without any problems on a previous install.

Thanks

Just to correct that: libsamplerate is only necessary for the svn version as the smoothvideo-patches got merged into the main linuxport branch. the stable 9.04 does not need it, but i guess you meant pulseaudio anyway smile

But a bug should be filed because of the broken package, no?

I can see that the contributor has been notified on the package comments.
