After doing a fresh install of Arch Linux, I began the update process and did a "sudo pacman -Syu". Once I let that go, and I returned from work, I ran that command again to see if I got all the updates, and I get the following:
[root@john-laptop ~]# sudo pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to update core (unexpected error)
error: failed to update extra (unexpected error)
error: failed to update community (unexpected error)
error: failed to synchronize any databases
[root@john-laptop ~]#
I've tried to restart numerous times, as well as running PPPoE, but I have no clue what exactly that did. I just ran through all the defaults on that, and I still can't seem to ping google.com. After a reboot, however, the system hangs when it tried to start the network, and I don't know how to revert the changes back as if I never ran PPPoE.
EDIT: I've tried uncommenting all of the United States servers, but that gives me the same error.

What happens if you try sudo pacman -Syy?
I don't know, as I am at school right now. But as soon as I get home, I will let you know on that one. What exactly is the difference between -Syu and -Syy?

Okay, I tried that and it just gave me the same error. I'm really thinking about doing another fresh install of Arch, is that a bad idea, or is there no other option?

post the output of this command: pacman -Syu --debug
i think you dont have a proper mirror selected in mirrorlist.

I can't post the exact output because it's very long and cuts off the screen. I also have my netbook sitting next to me which Arch is on, and I can't get that coppied and pasted to the temporary computer I am using now.
I attemped to type everything here and show you what I could see:
debug: opening database from path '/var/lib/pacman/sync/community/"
debug: config: including /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: config: attempting to read file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: config: finished parsing /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: config: finished parsing /etc/pacman.conf
debug: registering local databse
debug: opening databse 'local'
debug: opening databse from path '/var/lib/pacman/local/'
:: Synchronizing pacakge databases...
debug: failed to sync db: unexpected error
error: failed to update core (unexpected error)
debug: failed to sync db: unexpected error
error: failed to update extra (unexpected error)
debug: failed to sync db: unexpected error
error: failed to update community (unexpected error)
error: failed to synchronize any databases
debug: closing databse 'local'

debug: closing databse 'core'
debug: unregistering database 'core'
debug: closing database 'extra'
debug: unregistering database 'extra'
debug: closing databse 'community'

[root@john-laptop ~]#
I tried to uncomment all of the United States mirrors to see if that could resolve it because, obviously, that's the country I'm in and those are the servers I need to use, right?

clearly you don't have any server uncommented because a proper debug would look like this:
debug: registering sync database 'community'
debug: opening database 'community'
debug: opening database from path '/var/lib/pacman/sync/community/'
debug: config: including /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: config: attempting to read file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: adding new server URL to database 'community': http://mir.archlinux.fr/community/os/x86_64
debug: config: finished parsing /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
debug: config: finished parsing /etc/pacman.conf
notice the server url. yours is missing. just remove # in front of a server line.

I recommented the lines, but now I will uncomment them. Should I uncomment all of the United States servers or just one?

you can uncomment just one, or you can uncomment all. just don't use ftp.archlinux.org

Okay I uncommented http://mirror.archlinux.com.ve/$repo/os/i686 and I get a bunch of debug errors like:
debug: FTP_PROXY: (null)
debug: ftp_proxy: (null)
error: failed retrieving file 'extra.db.tar.gz' from mirror.archlinux.com.ve : Transient resolver failure
debug: failed to sync db: Transient resolver failure
error: failed to update extra (Transient resolver failure)
debug: using 'community.db.tar.gz' for download progress
debug: HTTP_PROXY: (null)
debug: http_prozy: (null)
debug: FTP_PROXY (null)
debug: ftp_proxy (null)
error: failed retrieving file 'community.db.tar.gz' from mirror.archlinux.com.ve : Transient resolver failure
...and then it unregisters and closes 'local', 'core', 'extra', and 'community'.

I remember looking up something about PPPoE, so I tried that and went through all of the defaults and it seemed to make the "starting network" dialog at startup hang for about 20sec and then it times out. I don't know how to remove that PPPoE thing either.
I tried to ping www.google.com, but that doesn't work. It just says "ping: unknown host www.google.com".

My guess is that your computer isn't connecting to your network properly. What steps did you take to get it after you installed? Have you considered using something like Wicd?

I just plugged in a network cable into my Eee PC, and then, logged in as root, "pacman -S wicd" and it checks for dependencies. Once I choose "y" to comfirm, I get this error:
:: Retrieving packages from core...
error: failed retrieving file 'glib2-2.20.1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz' from mirror.cs.vt.edu : Transient resolver failure
warning: failed to retrieve some files from core
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
Errors occurred, no pacakges were upgraded.

Oh, duh. I'm an idiot. If you don't have a network connection, you can't install anything.
First, I'd recommend power cycling your router. Then post the output of
ifconfig -a
.
