New Thunderbird 0.8 issues

I upgraded to the new 0.8 Thunderbird and can no longer view my emails.  They've disappeared, despite the fact that the messages are apparently still there...I can tell because my inbox has "15" unread messages in it...

Any help in resolving this rather urgent issue would be great.  I'm posting this is a bug too.
