pacman timeout on sync with new install (in vm)

When I try to pacman -Sy in a brand new Arch install inside of a VM, it times out at every mirror.

I get:
Error: failed retrieving file 'core.db.tar.gz' from archlinux.unixheads.org : Connection timed out
then more messages for each mirror it tries

I can ping google just fine. I'm using the default mirrorlist from the 09.02 release, and haven't really touched pacman.conf

Is this happening because I installed Arch to a VM (vmware workstation) on the Windows 7 RC? I can sync fine on my laptop where Arch is installed to the hdd.

Do you have any ideas on how I might get this working?

edit: ya nvm, problem has nothing to do with Arch :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
