asus multimedia keys not working

hello everyone smile

first of all, i like arch linux and i find it much nicer than ubuntu smile

now the problem: i am a week after a switch from ubuntu (still dualbooting winxp, but running on linux platform). i have an Asus f2hf laptop. in ubuntu, multimedia keys (volume, display switch, play/pause/next song etc.) worked out of the box.

in arch, i didn't expect them to work, maybe i just hoped for it when i installed gnome. but, nothing happened. i have read the archwiki article on multimedia keys, but no magic happened either. the thing that bothers me most is that the keys (always in combination with the Fn key) do not generate any keycodes whatsoever; only Fn+F1 (suspend) generates 142 code. moreover, Fn+F7 turns offon the display as expected, without generating any events.

the last problem, persisting from ubuntu, are the Fn+F5 anf F6 keys generate these messages in dmesg respectively:

ACPI Error (psargs-0358): [\_SB_.PCI0.P0P2.VGA_.LCDD] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error (psparse-0524): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.EC0_._Q0E] (Node f7012e88), AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error (psargs-0358): [\_SB_.PCI0.P0P2.VGA_.LCDD] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
ACPI Error (psparse-0524): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.EC0_._Q0F] (Node f7012ea0), AE_NOT_FOUND

i would be very thankful for any advice on this topic.
