Geforce4 MX Resolution Issue

Well I gave up on my Radeon and have just decided to use my onboard nVidia Geforce4 MX but there is only 1 problem. It will not let met set a widescreen resolution. Setting it in xorg.conf, messing with it nvidia-settings I just can't figure it out. If anyone can tell me how to set my resoltuion to 1680x1050 I would be very grateful.

Re: Geforce4 MX Resolution Issue

There are 2 different pieces of hardware that are involved in setting your resolution.

1) Does your video card support that resolution??

2) Does your monitor support that resolution??

You will find the information that you need in either your video card or monitors technical specs.

If the answer is yes to both questions,  then you will need to check that the HorizSync and VertRefresh on your monitor is correct.   This information will be found in your monitor's manual under technical specifications.   Setting these incorrectly CAN damage your equipment, so make sure that they are set correctly.

(At least that was with CRT's,  not sure about panels as I don't have one.  Yet.)
