processes showing up multiple (30+) times in htop

This may be perfectly normal, but I want to make sure. 

I just ran htop and noticed that I have more than 30 (thats when I stopped counting) instances of /usr/bin/console-kit-daemon.  Also, I have one instance of firefox, with two tabs, but it shows up 6 times in htop.  Should I do something to clean this up or is it norma?  This is a pretty fresh system that I am still building up to be usable so I woul d rather fix this now than after I start having other issues to deal with.

Those are probably threads. Enable "Hide user threads" in Setup -> Display Options and those should go away.

I figured it was something simple like that.  I just wanted to make sure I hadn't borked the system after two days work!

It bothers me that console-kit uses so many threads.  It seems its something that could be done in 1 thread/process, but from what I understand it would take a kernel modification that no one seems to be motivated to make...  Oh well....

If you kill one of the pid of console-kit-daemon, are also closed all the console-kit-daemon items...
Perhaps those are many instances of the same process?

I had up to 59 console-kit-daemon-things running for root ...
Uninstalled HAL and *kit - I'm happy now. Brute force rulez! ;-)

It is a bunch of threads from one process.  Console-kit spawns one thread to listen for every possible console (usually 63 of them by default).
