allowing users video..?

i cannot play video files, or open images in console as a regular user, whereas using sudo works just fine.

which .conf file do i have to edit now?

grep video /*/group should tell you if you're a member of 'video'.

Could you post the output of 'groups' command run as the user w/ problems?

What errors do you get? Maybe it's a permissions problem.

/usr/bin/mplayer permission problem.

yeah.

fbi opens images fine, but when i press space for next image, it exists, and page up/down (next/previous) don't work at all.

zgv-sdl spurts "SDL init failed - Unable to open mouse".

fim cannot be installed ("make: error1 error2").

reading on both SDL & fbi atm, but if anyone has a ready fix and could spare me the time, please do.

also, just encountered the same problem with SDL running tyrian.

ok, getting a bit off-topic, but when running tyrian w/ sudo in console, it starts, but in blank screen, though there is sound.

any ideas/suggestions on the given problems welcome.

fixed this one too.

in case someone is curious. needed to change mouse permissions in /dev/
