[REQ] Marathon : Aleph One SDL

Marathon is the game that originally made Bungie the hulking monolith of gaming which it is today. It is an oldschool pre-polygonal FPS. Originally out for the Mac with the sequel, Marathon 2 released to Windows as well, though sadly not the third. It was for its time an amazing game and, even now, it is an example of the potential for storytelling within a game. There was honestly a good sized book worth of text within the game. All optional of course

Anyway, a while ago Bungie released the source code for Marathon 2 and some of the clever coders expanded it greatly, as well as making Marathon Infinity game data compatible as well as porting the game to Unix/Linux via SDL. Which brings me to the point of this post.

Someone PLEASE make a package of Marathon SDL. This was and is my favorite game ever but I no longer have a computer running Mac OS 9 or earlier, which Marathon requires.

You can find the game at http://source.bungie.org, but only in RPM format If there is some way to break this down to source and make an arch package I will love you SO HARD. Platonically, of course.

...that is, unless you have something else in mind  :twisted:

Note: To play the game requires the data files from Marathon 2 or 3 to play, though demo files are available on the Aleph One site and Marathon 1 files are available free, as well as some great custom campaigns.
