NTFS partition being weird - or maybe my disk is failing?

So, just got arch installed smile  Coming from debian background, all seems very shiny and slick in comparison.

Anyway, I've got a HDD with a big fat NTFS partition on it (which I've been unable to migrate from).  I keep having issues accessing it and the following pops up in my /var/log/messages.log

Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett ntfs-3g[1548]: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error
Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett ntfs-3g[1548]: ntfs_attr_pread error reading '/Some/File/I/Want/To/Access' at offset 585728: 4096 <> -1: Input/output error

Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x3 [current] [descriptor]
Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett kernel: Descriptor sense data with sense descriptors (in hex):

Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x11 ASCQ=0x4
Jun 2 01:08:54 beckett kernel: ata2: EH complete

Is this an indication that the drive is dying?  Or is there a possibility that ntfs-3g needs tweaking?

Thanks
