The Pacman Song

I was trying to think of a lyrical way to contribute to the community, so here it is - the Pacman song.

Pacman - A parody of "Pacman" by Weird Al Yankovic
Released under the Creative Commons BY-SA license

I used to be an apt-get freak
Load thirty packages a week
Now I use pacman
Yeah, it's the pacman

It's not the game 'bout eating dots
A package manager that rocks
And it's called pacman
Yeah, it's the pacman

About Arch they say / just for the hard core
But pacman's the best / yeah it really soars
The Arch Build System / gives us even more
We've got binaries / and then we've got source

pacman!

Because it's pacman
Yeah, it's the pacman

I use it several times a day
(pacman -S everything)              -- pronounce "pacman dash ess ev'rything"
I owe it all to Judd Vinet
(pacman -Syu)                       -- pronounce "pacman ess why you"

I'm using pacman
Yeah, it's the pacman

No RPM or Emerge here
(pacman)
Dpkg has something to fear          -- pronounce "dee package"
(pacman)
And that is pacman
Yeah, it's the pacman

And it's all coming by FTP
(pacman!)

I hope everyone enjoys it.  Maybe someone could actually record it, as my recording equipment is limited to a voice chat headset, an integrated sound card, and gnome-sound-recorder.

EDIT: I forgot two lines. That's kind of important in a song.

Re: The Pacman Song

I can record it in my studio! Ok the equipment is not state of the art but the recordings I've done so far are not bad at all! The problem is I don't know the music to it...

Re: The Pacman Song

Weird Al chose Taxman by the Beatles - so LeafStorm didn't really have a choice. smile

Re: The Pacman Song

would be great as a community project. everyone who's able to play and record an instrument can contribute his part to the song :>
even herman li from dragonforce can emulate the pacman sounds on his guitar :>

Re: The Pacman Song

I'm glad everyone's enjoying the song so far. I was watching the Pacman by Weird Al music video on YouTube one day, and I'd always liked the song, but then I thought, "Hey! The Arch package manager is named pacman! I can parody a song about that!"

So, this is my first published parody. I was trying to do one about Conficker as a parody of It's The End of the World As We Know It, but I didn't finish it before Conficker turned on and absolutely nothing catastrophic happened.

Thanks,
Matthew Frazier

Re: The Pacman Song

I made a myspace account just to try singing this version using the karaoke thing they have.

The I realized I left my mic at school.
