Re: [Solved]Mount Ipod Problem

did you connect your device before running dmesg?

You can use tab completion to find the right partition: type "mount /dev/sd" then tab to see what is available.
Media players may use different partitions, my old Ipod has its data partition on sdb2, for example.

<damn, as often as I try, bbs offers no tab-completion>

Is it a touch?  Cause they can't mount at all.

Re: [Solved]Mount Ipod Problem

From what you've said, I'm pretty sure it isn't an ipod. You know, those mp3 players made by apple? Anyway, it sounds like it's mounting to sdb.

Re: [Solved]Mount Ipod Problem

Sorry for the thread bump, but just in case anyone else runs into this:

Some iPods (specifically my older Nano) have more than one partition. You want to mount the biggest one, which in my case is partition 2. I think partition 1 doesn't mount at all; it's a couple hundred megs and some unrecognizable filesystem. I've always assumed it's the iPod's own OS.
