Rxvt Graphics Support question (HALP)

So I've noticed this "Graphics Support" stuff in the manual page, which basically lets you "address individual pixels" instead of characters. However I didn't find any further details or examples so I'm unable to make use of it.
So I guess my question is, does anyone know how this works? Or does anyone know of any applications that make use of it? I thought it would be neat to write a small image viewer for the terminal or include icons in my prompt or something similar. Any thoughts?
