Wireless drops out on load, atheros chip

I've got a AcerOne with a atheros chip, it keeps dropping connection on heavy load, if you can call it heavy. Download about 80mb at 1600kb/s make the wireless drop out. I'm using the ath5k module, I've tried with the ath_pci module but then I get no wlan device. When I had ubuntu on this machine I just had to use the ath_pci module. Anybody got a solution for me?

The problem seems to be endemic, the closest thing to a "solution" I've seen so far comes from this post (the rest of the thread might be interesting, too).

Oh.. I had totally forgot about this thread... I found a "soloution" that at least does not drop out, though I don't like it really. I now use ndiswrapper and the windows drivers for the chip, and I can now keep a connection up while downloading. Hope this helps somebody else, and if somebody finds a native soloution I would appriciate to know about it

I had a very similar problem with the Ralink RT2500 driver that is included with the kernel. The only way to resolve it was to use ndiswrapper and a windows driver.
