toofishes kernel-eee on a 900, 2 errors: modules.dep and no /build dir

I'm using toofishes kernel-eee (2.6.30 now but this started at some point with 2.6.29) on my eee pc 900 (SSD) and i'm getting some errors.  i noticed them last week but i don't know when they actually started, they could be related to each other, but maybe not.

first, when i boot i get two FATAL errors saying modules.dep does not exist.  it's there, but the errors persist.  i've had mild google-success with this one, but most results were from custom kernel compilers or recommended rebuilding my kernel.img (i did, it didn't help).

second, i can no longer compile anything.  makepkg fails with /lib/modules/2.6.30eee/build: no such file or directory.  in this case the error is correct, the directory is in fact not there.  in an act of desperation i copied the /build symlink from 2.6.30-ARCH into 2.6.30eee but this did not change anything.

the only loss in functionality seems to be the inability to compile, i'd be happy to ignore the modules.dep errors if i could fix that

any help would be much appreciated.
