mpd strange update_db problem

this is strange...for some strange reason, mpd adds the files i have from the standard mp3 directory that i have in the mpdconf, but only from the external link that leads to my usbhdd, and not the actual ones that i have i my music directory. in order to actually add them to the database, i have to put them in the usbhdd or change the ownership to mpd user. but i can't change the ownership to every album i put in the Music/ directory so mpd adds them.

any help ?

music_directory "/home/geo/Music"
playlist_directory "/var/lib/mpd/playlists"
db_file "/var/lib/mpd/db"
log_file "/var/log/mpd/mpd.log"
error_file "/var/log/mpd/mpd.error"
pid_file "/var/run/mpd/mpd.pid"
state_file "/var/lib/mpd/mpdstate"
user "mpd"

user "mpd"

either change the mpd user or change persmissions... thats the only options...
...and no.. ownership does not need to be changed... something like "644" will work just fine for all other users as well...

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.
