when arch was installed the touchpad did not work on the laptop, so i downloaded some drivers from the toshiba website, i tried to install the touchpad driver for the laptop mouse on my toshiba x200 satellite. once i installed the synaptics the touchpad still didint work plus now the USB mouse that WAS working now stopped working as well. once i uninstalled the synaptics driver the usb mouse worked but still no touchpad any ideas on how i can install the adequate stuff to get this thing to work?

This may or may not be helpful. I have a Compaq Presario F767NR laptop and for a long time the touchpad worked perfectly out-of-the-box. Then all of a sudden, after an upgrade, it stopped working completely and I had to use my usb mouse instead. The solution was I needed then to install the package xf86-input-synaptics. After installing that and not changing anything else, the touchpad worked perfectly again.
