Is the Arora browser usable/stable?

I installed Arora but for me it takes an eternity to render any page I go to. I know this is an alpha (beta?) release, but I was curious if anyone else was actually using it with any better results?

Re: Is the Arora browser usable/stable?

I've tried Arora out recently.  It renders pages normally for.  Not particularly fast, but not slow either.  I would like to use it full time, because it looks like the most promising QT browser, but there's this bug keeping me from doing it.  It doesn't display the upload button in gmail correctly or even let me click it so I can't attach anything to an email using arora.  Kind of a deal breaker for me.

Yeah same experience for me, works ok, not slow, but not really any faster than say firefox.  It also seemed to use about the same memory as Firefox.  So it was basically Firefox without my favourite addins, so I thought whats the point.  But yes I will keep an eye on it since I'm a fan of Qt and webkit.

QT and webkit are the reason I was checking it out. Chromium is the fastest rendering of a page that I've seen with a Linux browser, but I've been using Opera since I've been using KDE.

Arora is pretty good.  I like it but it really does lack options now.  For me it does about the same as firefoox for rendering speed but should be better.  I've tried both Chrome and Safari in Windows and it's a faster rendering engine.  I think this has to do with webkit still being ported to Linux.

Re: Is the Arora browser usable/stable?

Arora is more stable than Midori. Infact, I would rate it as the second most promising browser with a potential to grow after Konqueror. (Obviously the mainstream users are happy with Firefox for GTK and Opera for Qt and they are so popular that I see firefox in KDE desktops and Opera in GTK desktops).

Anyway, since Chrome is not in Linux yet, Arora is probably one of your best bets for a lightweight WebKit based Browser.

Re: Is the Arora browser usable/stable?

Midori to me seems like it's further along than Arora. It seems like it renders pages more quickly, but that could just be because in Arora items in the page don't show up until the page is about completely done loading.

I was really hoping that Arora was just the QT version of Midori.
