I am running KDE with Arch64 on a lenovo x61,
Recently my computer has started to freeze. When this happens my mouse still can be moved around but it doesn't interface with the screen. I tried the traditional remedies of ctrl + alt + del, yelling at it, and trying to switch tty (ctl + alt +f keys) to no avail.
Also, supspend stopped working.
Looked at /var/log/pm-suspend.log
...
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/11netcfg suspend suspend: success.
/etc/pm/sleep.d/11suspend suspend suspend: amixer: Invalid command!
amixer: Invalid command!
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'CD',0
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'CD',0
Returned exit code 1.
Thu Jun 18 08:48:48 PDT 2009: Inhibit found, will not perform suspend
Thu Jun 18 08:48:48 PDT 2009: Running hooks for resume
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/11netcfg resume suspend: success.
...
looks like amixer is to blame. But I am not sure how to fix this.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem since I've updated KDE to 4.2.4 (kdemod), however, i was updating also several dozen of other packages so I don't know what exactly caused the problem. Anyway, it seems very similar. And such a freeze appears AFTER resuming from pm-suspend but after a while (a few minutes) rather than immediately.
My /var/log/pm-suspend.log:
/etc/pm/sleep.d/11bluetooth resume suspend: /bin/stty: standard input: Invalid argument
:: Starting bluetooth subsystem: [BUSY] bluetoothd [DONE]
kbluetooth4(12768): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server
kbluetooth4(12767): KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.
Returned exit code 255.
/etc/pm/sleep.d/10nfs resume suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01grub resume suspend: not applicable.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00powersave resume suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00logging resume suspend: success.
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00auto-quirk resume suspend: success.
As I've written, I'm not sure whether the problem lies in pm-suspend, maype it's KDE fault...
Anyone could help?
Order dissolves into chaos and then collapses into a higher form of order. This holds true for galaxies, ecosystems, empires and civilizations. The Universe, society, culture manifests in eternal change, and so should music and art.

If you guys have intel cards, try to downgrade xf86-video-intel to 2.7.1-1. It solved this problem for me.
want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

I got that a couple of times too, as well as a freeze when the monitor blanked. 2.7.99.902-1 seems to have fixed the latter, so it may fix the former as well. I think it went out yesterday or so.
