atheros 9001 wireless usb

hi all.  well, i've got a netgear WNDA3100 wirless usb dongle which uses the Atheros AR-9001U(-2NX) chipset.
after reading a bunch of stuff, i thought atheros was well supported.

i'm running kernel 2.6.29 on Arch 64 and am trying to use the ath9k module to get wireless working.
the device is detected as ath0 and shows under ifconfig.

using iwlist ath0 scan  doesn't show anything

dhcpcd ath0 times out.

using wicd, i can see wireless networks but when trying to connect can't get an ip address (unencrypted connection).
however, it's kind of buggy, when network list is refreshed the wireless neworks all disappear from the menu and won't show unless the
dongle is taken out and re-inserted.

if anyone knows of a wireless n usb or expresscard that works without ndiswrapper under arch(linux), please let me know.

Re: atheros 9001 wireless usb

Dit you try using ath5k? I'm using it right now and works fantastic! I used to run ndiswrapper but overtime I found that it was a pain, caused the DHCP server no to be albe to assign an address (but some times it would work flawlessly roll ) and so I just deiced to switch.

Now I have a 100% quality link and connects instantly.

ATH5K is part of the kernel, so yo should not have to do anything to have it working but load it in the MODULES in /etc/rc.conf

Give it a try... nothing to loose wink

Re: atheros 9001 wireless usb

i tried using ath5k and ath9k............the chip is detected but can't I can't get it to connect with or without encryption.  also, it seems kind of flaky.....wicd can't find any wireless access points half of the time, I have to take out the dongle and re-insert it to get access points to show up.

maybe all of my problems are because I'm using 64bit Arch instead of 32?

so are you able to use wireless n with this, with wpa2 encryption?

thank you.

Re: atheros 9001 wireless usb

I'm using 32 bits and WPA2. Perhaps, that 32 bits part does make a difference.
