First post here, be gentle
Current setup, 2 soundcards. The NVidia(Intel) outputs to speakers and the Xonar STX to headphones:
lspci
00:06.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP55 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
03:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Audio]
Alsa does not seem to recognise that I have two cards
ls -l /proc/asound/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Jun 24 00:04 NVidia -> card0
dr-xr-xr-x 6 root root 0 Jun 24 00:04 card0
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jun 24 00:04 cards
I've tried:
1. forcing snd-virtuoso to load, which it appears to do, however no dice!!!
2. disabling onboard sound in the bios, simply to see if the 2nd card is then recognised
Any troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

After a last ditch (and from reading other posts) I've tried an pacman -Syu and all now seems well.
Does this get marked as solved or can I/moderator delete the post?
