Sata 3.0g Drive - Mysterious Failure

My hard drive has suddenly failed to work anymore.  My computer appears to recognize its presence, but no configuration data or anything is recognized.  However, I have a pata drive attached as a slave drive with an arch64 installation on it, and the computer boots to that instead.  While booting up, Arch64 also appears to recognize the sata drive and attempts to initialize it, but issues some unusual error message:

Re: Sata 3.0g Drive - Mysterious Failure

Just a note, this hard drive is less than a month old.

Re: Sata 3.0g Drive - Mysterious Failure

Hi,
I have kind of the same issue since a little while (few weeks).
I have two SATA HDDs, one with my system which obviously boots and another one only used for storage. This one is not detected anymore even though it is a couple of months old. It is a Western Digital (I have read somewhere there are troubles with WD but it should be fixed in Linux 2.6.30)

dmesg :

Re: Sata 3.0g Drive - Mysterious Failure

Well, figured out the problem.  It wasn't the hard drive that had failed.  It was my computer's SATA controller!
