Graphical Web browser fails to connect (command-line works) [SOLVED]

Hello. Firefox fails to load pages with 'load page error'. I have tried modifying all settings in the browser including encryption settings without success.

Lynx (command-line text-browser) does however work.
My connection to the internet is fine: command line tools such as : curl, wget, ping, etc.. work. I am connected to a router via a static ip.

Konqueror fails just as miserably as firefox. This inability to use a graphical web browser is a frustrating mystery to me. Can anyone suggest what the issue may be?

Thanks

Re: Graphical Web browser fails to connect (command-line works) [SOLVED]

Check the wiki on how to disable ipV6.  Try setting your ISP's nameservers or the OpenDNS servers instead of setting your router IP as the nameservers. For some reason, this changed for me recently and I'm not sure why.

Good luck!

Thanks firecat53. Disabling Ipv6 did the trick!.

By the way, nameservers are dynamically generated in your resolv.conf via your dhcp daemon, that is if you are using dhcp from via your router. This may be the case in your case. Thanks for the help!
