Aloha,
Well my sound is working so hay... But I would like to get this problem cleared up.
I never had a problem with my sound before Kernel 2.6.28->29 Now I just upgrade the Kernel to 2.6.30 and when ALSA starts at boot-up it tells me.....
Unknown Hardware "HDA-intel" "Analog Devices AD1984A" "HBA:11d4194a,103c30e7,000100400 HDA:11c11040,103c1378,00100200" "0x103c" "0x30e7"
Hardware is initialized using a guess method
But the sound is still the same as far as I can tell. This just seems strange to me. Why is it Unknown ? This is a supported card. It was known before the new Kernel?
I figure I ether didn't set something up right or it is a bug? Any thoughts?

I suposse that you have alsa in rc.conf. Run:
alsactl store
Sorry my bad English. If you see a mistake let me know, this way I can learn ^^

Same problem here.

I already tried alsaconf but still the same problem.

Fantastic
Ya, it worked for me...

su -

>Then closed FF and /etc/rc.d/alsa stop when it told me too
> I just selected all the defaults and on reboot it did not show that error
The interesting thing is it found 3 audio cards. I didn't know I had 3. I guess I have that intel HD one, I guess my ATI graphics card has one (some ATI audio card was found), and some basic audio card thing. I just set up the Intel HD audio one.
So, Thanks guys I never knew about that "alsaconf"
I hope you other guys get it fixed too.
