So i have went over backwards and forwards the Hal wikihttp://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL with no luck what so ever. I am brand new to arch linux but a long itme ouser of ubuntu. AS i said in the topic cd will mount but dvd does not mount. can't figure out why?
Here is my entry for DVD in FSTAB
/dev/dvd /media/dvd auto,iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

Try commenting that line by placing a # at the beginning of the line: in this way hopefully hal will make everything work

What are the commands to mount in teminal for a optical drive have done plenty of hdd but never a dvd

ok so i found a quick fix but i dont know if this will fix it permanently What i did was I ran
wodim -devices
and it turned back
/dev/scd0
So i switched the fstab accordingly. But why is hal not automounting it. Hal does not also automount my USB drives.
