I recently got X working on my new computer running Arch. I decided to try installing awesome. I used:
pacman -S awesome
It installed fine. Then, I added 'exec awesome' to .xinitrc. But when I use startx the screen blanks, then it returns back to the normal and there's text on my screen. This is all I can see:

Try this in your .xinitrc[1]:
exec ck-launch-session awesome
Basic install worked for me, but I start it from SLIM.

Do you have other WM/DE?
Xorg works with them fine?

I installed Xfce first and it worked, but I uninstalled it because I wanted something simpler.
