Ping -- Unknown host

I am trying to install Arch on virtualbox for now, to get comfortable with it.

I try to type "ping www.google.com"
it returns me "ping unknown host www.google.com"

I guess it doesn't have connection. How can I make it connect from terminal? (I don't have gnome or anything else installed).

Re: Ping -- Unknown host

Try pinging your gateway. It could be a network/routing issue or a dns problem.

What network type do you have set in VirtualBox for your vm?

The output from ifconfig and cat /etc/resolv.conf would help.

Re: Ping -- Unknown host

Its "PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973) ------- NAT"

When I ping my gate way, it tells me "Destination Host Unreachable"

ifconfig -a

#binarii @ irc.binarii.net
Matrix Server: https://matrix.binarii.net

Re: Ping -- Unknown host

Kdar, set your network adapter to bridge in VirtualBox.
