using amarok 1.4 on kde4 (kdemod) / song crossfade amarok2

hi,
I'm trying to set up a dj like system to play music during a party. i really need crossfade between songs to automate the mixing in the playlist. unfortunately amrok2 doesn't support crossfading so far (as far as I know....).
I then installed amarok 1.4 (alongside amarok2) from kdemod-legacy. once started, it ask for the music location but the it doesn't index it. moreover, play a file from the file tab doesnt give any sound.
anyone know if this can be fixed (or better how to get song crossfade in amarok2)?
thanks in advance
Laura

Re: using amarok 1.4 on kde4 (kdemod) / song crossfade amarok2

might be a path-problem. amarok 1.4 is in /opt/kde, which is not in kde4's path. so you start amarok with "/opt/kde/bin/amarokapp/". but there is a special app for indexing the database, which is not in the standard-path either. so adding /opt/kde/bin to your path might solve the problem.

thanks a lot!!!
/opt/kde/bin is already in the path but in fact running it directly works. it a problem of names and priorities respect to amarok2, so now it's fixed running it manually.
the problem about audio was my fault (stupid fault)... I had a docking station with audio card connected... smile
bye

Re: using amarok 1.4 on kde4 (kdemod) / song crossfade amarok2

I'm having this same issue.  I'm trying to run amarok 1.4 in kde4.3 (x86_64) but all i get is a small window saying "updating database" and then nothing happens.  I've set /opt/kde/bin/ in my path in /etc/profile but it just doesn't seem to work.  Any ideas?
(I'm currently using the AUR version named amarok1, but i had the same issue for kdemod3-amarok)

ah-ha! the old reboot/re-login solved the problem somewhat.  Although the indexing my music folders still does not seem to work...
