TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

Ok so i just setup my haupaugge hvr-1800 and i am getting no sound out of tvtime  and when i try to connect with totem i get Totem is missign a channel list.  Really the only i would care about is getting soudn to work in tvtime as i do not need any features that tvtime does not have.  Any ideas?

Re: TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

I've never used a haupaugge card, but I need to set my card and tuner in the drivers for mine in the options.   I use the cx8800 and the cx88xx mods for mine.   Does yours have similar options?

Also,  if you use alsactl to save the settings after you get sounds, then u can restore the settings so your sounds are set.   The restore command can be set up in the rc.local file so that alsa works on reboot.

Re: TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

Sorry.  Took me a little to get back.

There is a command that will show you what devices are on the pci bus.  It's lspci.
Open a terminal window and issue the command lspci (if it doesn't work su to root and do it), then copy and paste it here.

Re: TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

Ok.  It looks like the tuner is being recognized.

So what audio channel is your tvcard/radio connected to?

Check that channel to make sure it's not muted or the volume is turned down.

Re: TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

It's quite possible that you have exactly the same problem as me: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15235

New kernel (2.6.30.1) may fix it.

I don't have an audio device listed.

My card has a connection from the tuner card to my sound card.

In my case that connection is from the tuner card to Aux/Line1 and is internal.

Do you have such a connection?

No i dont think so.  IT worked fine in windows (of course) all tv cars seem to work great there but not in linux.  It is driving me nuts and is the only reason i have a windows pc in my house.

Hey man,  you don't use the cx88 drivers for this one, you need to use the cs23885 drivers.

Re: TV tuner card no sound in tvtime and no workie in totem

Did you download and build the firmware as suggested in the article that I provided the link for?

In the sample dmesg output that is in the article it mentions an audio processor being detected, but I'm guessing that's part of the firmware that needs to be built.

Unfortuanatly the link that the wiki gave to build from mercurial http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_t … _Mercurial is dead so i used the instructions here. http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/
Well still the same thing is happening.  dmesg does now mention an audio processor

cd /lib/firmware
ls -l v4l*

will tell you what the permissions are, then if they are different from the others in firmware, then you can change them with chmod.
