firefox 3.5: facebook chat does not work

After an update to firefox 3.5 the facebook chat does not work anymore. It says I should update to the current firefox version. With the mozilla binary everything works fine.
Someone with the same problem?

I have the same problem..The chat now is not integrated with the rest of the page, but I have to open it in a popup window.

PS: the title of your post is not correct, the facebook chat does NOT work

you may want to change the thread title. did you try to change the user agent?
about:config > general.useragent.extra.firefox

Thank you, this did the trick. Sorry for my mistake according the the thread title.
Another problem occurred: I can´t open links from thunderbird anymore, although firefox is set to my default browser.

Yeah, just going to about:config > general.useragent.extra.firefox and setting the value to Firefox/3.5 fixed that. Thanks for helping out.

A more versatile solution (imho) than delving into about:config is to install the User Agent Switcher plugin found here

install that, restart, and then go to the User Agent Switcher icon, Choose "Edit User Agents..."

Click "Add" > "New User Agent" and it should give you the firefox agent by default.  change it to:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090703 Firefox/3.5
(all i did was change Shiretoko to Firefox)

Name and save the agent, and then select it from the drop down and refresh facebook. works like a charm!

for extra credit, go to the User Agent Switcher icon, Choose "Edit User Agents..." and import this list:

Now you can spoof a bunch of browsers!

In archlinuxfr repository there is 'firebrand', a script to set the official branding in Firefox. I usually use it after a firefox upgrade instead of modifying its configuration manually.
