Hi there,
I am following all the instructions as well as I can. I have a core image on a CD and on a USB. No luck, as soon as I confirm the file system I receive an error, - "Error creating filesystem" I have tried all the file types.
The system is an AMD 64 athlon x2.
Thanks in advance.

Why do your partitions look like? Have you tried creating the filesystem(s) manually from the shell?

Here is the output from fdisk -l

Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x000b6a54

I used the tool within the img.

I'd try creating the filesystems manually (without the installer).

Does using gparted count?

Does the arch install cd include it? I was referring to the console tools like mke2fs and such.

No, but I did try gparted, but still no luck.

I am having a similar problem with one of my comps.The file-systems have already bean created, but when I try to select them in the Arch installer I instantly get ``error creating file system''. It seams like arch cannot write to the disk for some reason.

I wanted you to try the console tool because I was hoping it might spit out a more detailed error message.

I managed to get arch installed from within my ageing Ubuntu hardy install flowing the guide in the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … ting_Linux. If all else fails you may have to try that too.

I wanted to thank you. It took a while, and I never did get the disks to work so I used the internet to install the files. I am now working from Arch Linux. It works great.

Glad to hear you eventually got something to work. Welcome to Arch!
