Hi,
Kate is only inside the package kdesdk which depends on Akonadi and MySQL. That means if I just want to use kate, I need to install the whole mysql server which is somehow odd (especially as you can use kwrite and a lot of other more complex KDE programs without even touching mysql). Therefore it would be extremely useful to have kate repackaged separately or placed in an existing, more senseful package (e.g. the one of kwrite which is I think kde-runtime or something) that doesn't depend on Akonadi and MySQL (that is, kdepimlibs) as kdesdk does.
Edit: Sorry, was meant to put this into http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewforum.php?id=38 this forum. Maybe someone would be kind and move it? Sorry for that.

There will be separate packages for KDE with 4.3. See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE_Packages and http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dev … itting_KDE
