xorg/xine crashes real bad

Hi all!

I run Arch (0.7 version installed through ftp) with fluxbox cvs-version (updated last time a couple of days ago). When I run xine (nvidia's twinview is enabled so I can watch on my TV) and if I happen to put the xine-window outside the screen (i.e x=-2 y=2 or x=0 y=-2) everything will freeze.. also the keyboard locks up so I have to make a hard-reset.. I have noticed this since I switched distro to Arch (have run Yoper with XFree86-server before and no such thing happend there).

Is there anyone that have noticed this? Is it perhaps a bug in the Xorg-release or a combination with Xorg and fluxbox cvs?

/ Taz

I had the same problem using XFCE and xorg 6.8

I don't put the xine windows out of the screen anymore...

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

sounds to me like its a problem with nvidia+xorg - I'd submit a bug report with both places (and maybe check their bug reports for the same thing and/or fixes)

I was going to say that too "just dont put xine outside the screen" 8)

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

I don't think it has to do with nvidia, cause I have intel.

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

ah ok... I misread the part about "nvidia's twinview" - check/post bug reports in both places with system details

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

hmm.. perhaps it's xorg then.. when I had yoper with xfree86 I also had the same nvidia drivers, same version also, but the x-server never completely locked up like it has for me now..

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

could you try with mplayer or gstreamer? track down if it is only xorg or perhaps the way xorg does windowing for things like video

Re: xorg/xine crashes real bad

i also got some problem about xorg/xine
after i upgrade to xorg 7.0 with dri support on my prosavageDDR, and every time when i use gxine to play video files in fullscreen mode, then the screen will flick every 3-4 second...
it has no problem when i play videos in realplayer....

anyone got the same problem?
