%gconf.xml overwrote my ~/Documents folder

Hi everyone

I've been using arch for a couple of months now, but I'm still quite new to this.
Today, something has come up that I can't handle myself, and it's a rather important issue.

I store a lot of personal and/or important data in my ~/Documents folder.
After the most recent boot, I noticed that my wallpaper had changed to a standard one, so I wanted to have a look at my documents, where I also store my pictures. But the whole folder was empty except for this file:
%gconf.xml

I have no idea where this file came from all of a sudden and I sure hope that the overwritten files can somehow be saved!

I'll post the contents of that file for you, I don't know if there's anything else I can do to help you help me.

Re: %gconf.xml overwrote my ~/Documents folder

Frankly I have no earthly idea what could have happened.  What happened previous to the strange disappearance of all your files?  Is /home a separate partition on your setup?  Is there anything in /lost+found on whatever filesystem your home is located?

Re: %gconf.xml overwrote my ~/Documents folder

There were no special occurences before i shut down my pc last night.
Also, I have not installed anything recently.

Yes, the /home is on a separate (extended) partition.
the lost+found is completely empty.

The only thing "unusual" I can think of right now, is that the filesystems were automatically checked yesterday (as is done in regular time intervals or every 20 mounts I think...). But I can't imagine that a simple check would damage my files.
