nvidia 185.18.14-1 does not recognize EDID - wrong resolution
Hello folks,
I have a problem with my resolution since I upgraded to kernel 2.6.30. The problem is that I get a 1024*768 resolution, while my monitor has an optimal resolution of 1920x1080. The Xserver log says, that my monitors EDID could not be read.
I have a Nvidia 6600GT and a Samsung 2333HD connected via VGA cable.
I tried it without xorg.conf, I have fixed my horizonal and vertical sync values to those in the manual, I have tried to ignore the edid information of the montior and to set my mode to 1920x1080 and 1920x1080_60, but the Xserver log said that mode was not valid.
Meanwhile I downgraded to the older kernel and nvidia driver.
Did I miss anything?

I get the same error after replacing my VGA-cable. Maybe the cable (without those 'noise-cancelling magnets' on it) is hindering the EDID-data to be correctly detected...

the fault is nvidia driver. i have this problem for ages and i can't use any lower resolution except the optimal.
