Error in locking Authority

I can not get xorg to work properly. When I am in root everything is fine, but when I login to my user X shutsdown and says

"xauth: error in locking authority file /home/otacon/.Xauthority"

I can not seem to find an answer to this file just reading the wikis.

Re: Error in locking Authority

ls -l ~/.Xauthority

Who owns it and what are the permissions?

Re: Error in locking Authority

I believe that everything in my home section is under my permissions. Correct me if I am wrong. I am not sure off hand how to check to see who has permissions on items--------- ok so according to kde my user and the user group is the owner. with read write permissions
