Intel driver 2.7.99 crashes desktop when using dpms

Hi!

I've got the problem that very often when the screen blanks due to my dpms settings, that Xorg crashes. This only happens with the new 2.7.99 and above versions of the intel driver from the AUR(xf86-video-intel-newest, xf86-video-intel-git). After going back to the old driver version 2.7.1 this problem is gone. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is it just me? My card is an Intel X3100.

Bye, miau.

Re: Intel driver 2.7.99 crashes desktop when using dpms

hey I have the same issue!

X is running with KMS enabled and without xorg.conf. If screensaver is active after the laptop idle for a while, the whole X would crash into blank screen with no response. I have to hard restart! And this problem is with the new xf86-video-intel only.

Now I've had to disable the screensaver, and it goes fine again.

I also saw this issue with KMS enabled and xf86-video-intel-newest. It's just X frozen, as I'm still able to ssh into the machine, but can't kill off X at all or bring back the display. Older 82845 intel card.

i've also got KMS enabled, but i think the problem also exist without KMS. Hopefully this bug will be gone when 2.8 will be released...:|

Same problem here.

Temporary workaround is to turn off dmps completely:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DPMS

xset -dpms

Put it in your .xinitrc
