Awesome problems after update
So I haven't updated in a while (I know I'm kicking my own as I type), and awesome won't start.
using exec xterm in my .xinitrc works as expected, but exec awesome is just a black screen with mouse pointer.
Tried
cp /etc/xdg/awesome/rc.lua ~/.config/awesome/rc.lua
Thinking i got a new version of awesome and my rc.lua was broken but still nothing.
Any ideas or a link to a thread I missed in the search would be helpful. Thanks.

Nothing on screen. I've been looking at my Xorg.0.log and it hasn't been much help. The only errors are failed to load i810 and fbdev modules. I could post it though if you thought it might help. Is there anything else I can look for at that might provide a clue what's going wrong?
