The only way i could get round the pulseaudio problem was to install pulseaudio and also phonon-mplayer-svn (from the aur). Then you can choose mplayer from the phonon backend options in systemsettings.

install pulseaudio and gstreamer0.10-pulse or xine-lib-pulse(? i think) and the sound and kde work.

Pulseaudio daemon won't even start here grrr

That worked !!

I'm using the phonon-vlc-svn instead. I like this alternative ...
{edit} ................wait, nvm, crashes amarok, sticking with mplayer backend.....

anyone has got the gmail-notifier plasmoid working with this kde-unstable version?

up.. and also, peacey, how have you installed qt 4.7?
I've updated to the lastest x86_64 4.3.82 svn packages in this repo but kde still says it is version 4.3.81 in the About dialog, and so does every other kde application. And from terminal:
peacey ~ $ kded4 --version Qt: 4.7.0 KDE Development Platform: 4.3.81 (KDE 4.3.81 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091204)) KDE Daemon: $Id: kded.cpp 1031637 2009-10-05 16:58:19Z lunakl $ peacey ~ $
Is something wrong with my installation or with the packages?

After Qt 4.6 was released all new commits go to Qt 4.7 and for 4.3.82 we used this Qt. Currently the repo should be using stable Qt representing itself as 4.6 (we reverted to Qt 4.6-patched "kde-qt").

Nice
When do we expect the next beta/rc release ?

We have (I have) a huge problem. My webhosting service just blocked my repo domain because it was causing too much traffic...I need to find a web that provides free (FTP) hosting for repositories.
Do you have any ideas? Or if some of you have possibility to host it (cca 2.5 GB of packages in total) temporarily until we find some another storage, please let me know. KDE 4.4 RC 1 is scheduled for release tomorrow and I have no place where to upload the packages.
Thank you for any suggestion.
UPDATE: Well, I managed to get some space on my friend's server for a few beers, but it won't be available forever...

Oh.... That's bad luck Upload them whenever you can.

Great job ProgDan!
I hope you are able to sort the hosting out.
Does pacman have any torrent-like distributed capabilities at all?

You could try: http://www.tuxfamily.org/en/about
They seem very open to hosting any gpl projects....
or look here: http://www.ohost.de/
but I have no eperiences with these.

So here I am...running new installation of Arch because I lost everything that was not backed up after my disk collapse two days ago...it was very lucky day at all :-)
For RC 1 I have hosting on my friend's server and I was offered a hosting from Manuel Gysin.
KDE 4.4 RC 1 was tagged few minutes ago...I'm going to set up build chroots and start the build...

Οh, thank you very much

Good luck with the build and thanks for your job!!

Thank you guys for your support!! These thanks are what is pushing us forward!
Also I would like to say very loud THANK YOU to Gwydion for his offer to host KDE repo on his server and Flamelab who offerd me to use his machine to compile KDE. These both are very generous offer and I'm very thankful for that.
I'm happy to see the community cooperating in such way.
I have already prepared build chroots, now I'm checking out the sources. I just have to figure out why SUDO is not working :-)
Update: sudo works...now let's go compiling!

Dear ladies (are there any at all?) and gentleman,
I am proud to present you KDE 4.4 RC 1!
Please, update your pacman.conf, the URL for the repo is now:
[kde-4.4-unstable]
Server = http://killa.watzke.cz/arch/kde-4.4-unstable/os/{i686,x86_64}
[kde-unstable-extra]
Server = http://killa.watzke.cz/arch/kde-unstable-extra/os/{i686,x86_64}
x86_64 is already there and waiting for you. I have updated the PKGBUILDs so that all new apps, plasma applets and runners should be packaged. i686 users will have to wait couple more hours, but it's on a good way.
Nice KDEing!
PS: if you are interested I also committed buildscripts to git://progdan.homelinux.net/kde-4.4-unstable.git. With current version of the scripts the compilation should run without a problem.
