just a question, anyone else is having issues with KDM? (it doesn't work for me)

Check if user kdm exists. Or change /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc to start as KDM as root. I'll fix the .install file to create 'kdm' user when it does not exists.

thx, creating user kdm helped

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Hi. beta1 announce is on the way - http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.6-beta1.php

There are some beta1 files changed in svn and ftp after tagging. Will you rebuild packages after beta1 release?

Also, some users still waiting for l10n smile Thanks!

UPD: kdesupport-akonadi is broken with boost-libs (1.45.0) from [testing]. Symlink to new library works for me.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Hi madgnu,

I won't repackage 4.5.80, because I'm already building 4.5.81 smile (if you want to use -betas and -rcs than [kde-unstable] is a better choice).

For now, the l10n will not be provided and I'm afraid I'm not going to prepare them any time soon ( = I'll probably never do it sad )

Btw: don't you guys know where I could buy a few additional hours to extend day? 24hrs don't seem to be enough for me these days...

Re: kde-snapshot repo

@ProgDan
Can't wait to test 4.5.81 smile anyway do you face an often crash on 4.5.80? like when you do a shutdown? big_smile i would dare to try this if it's a little bit less crash than now to install it on my main machine ^^

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Boys and gals, announcing KDE 4.5.82. It's should be better then KDE 4.5.81 which was not a good build at all (sorry for that). I did some fast testing, at least KDE PIM looks really great.

Do you think it is strictly Dolphin-related? I have noticed several sped regresiions in Linux affecting disks and filesystems. I tried copying a movie to my N900 via Dolphin and via MC and both showed the same speeds.

There's an issue with kde-unstable (i.e., the beta packages) where dolphin is super slow to launch without HAL.

In my experience, when running it's running just fine, it's just the initial startup and mounting/unmounting devices that's slow.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

KDE 4.5.85 (beta 2) is out. I'm not going to package it, since there are no big changes since 4.5.82 release two days ago, next snapshot will be 4.5.86 next week.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

you should add "libpulse" as dependency for kdebase-runtime. without it, kde will fail to login with following log (/var/log/kdm.log)

klauncher(29571) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server.
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
kdmgreet(29565)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Not connected to D-Bus server"

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Are you sure it's libpulse related? It seems to me more like that KDM can't get to DBUS, meaning that your DBUS server is probably not running?

positive. when trying to run kde directly using startx, there was an error stating that ksmserver cannot load shared library libpulse.so.0. after libpulse instalation, it's working again

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Indeed, libpulse was a missing dependency (just the error output you provided was not very clear smile ).

Fixed & reuploaded.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

Hi,
4.5.86 is in repo now. I added few apps to kdeaccessibility, kdeartwork and kdeplasma-addons.

I have encountered some problems with Akonadi on x86_64, could someone please report about i686? Akonadi always refuses to start, telling it can't find any services.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

you have fileconflict between ksame and klickety, both are containing these files

kdegames-klickety: /usr/share/applications/kde4/ksame.desktop již existuje v souborovém systému
kdegames-klickety: /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/ksame.png již existuje v souborovém systému

It's safe to use -f switch in pacman here to ignore the conflict. It seems to be a bug in klickety CMakeLists.

Update: actually ksame was dropped from kdegames, so it's not a bug. But why does klickety provide ksame icons...?

google found me this: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-games-devel … 331317&w=2

maybe consider removing ksame and adding replace=(kdegames-ksame) into klickety pkgbuild in future release...

Re: kde-snapshot repo

hi, there are a small problem in kde-meta-kdesdk package, it's target kdeutils-okteta instead of kde-snapshots/kdesdk-okteta.

and with akonadi server's problem, somebody have solution or any idea to make it works?   for me only this error:

Error: akonadi_control was started but didn't register at D-Bus session bus.
Make sure your system is setup correctly!

I hope than with next build this problem will be fix,

ciao

thank you for your great work.

Re: kde-snapshot repo

@amirs: indeed. I was trying to avoid PulseAudio because for me it's really crappy piece of code, but I understand that there may be some people who could like it smile Next snapshot will fully support pulseaudio.

@akonadi issue: I just found out, that on clear new .kde4 profile Akonadi starts up and works without a problem. Some of the previous snapshots probably induced an error into the database causing incompatibility with the current snapshot.
