Feature requests

I want pacman to show me feelings! Now hes too cold when he for example tells me: "error: you cannot perform this operation unless you are root."

It would be great if he (atleast) could get some serious help in form of an notifyer or something that tells me when he is happy (up to date) or sad (not updated in awhile).

What feature do you want?

I think what you are wanting is an update notifier.  Here are a few that will sit in your notification tray, and there are probably many more in the repositories and AUR.  There are also Conky scripts for this, too.

The other closest thing that I can think of that sounds like what you are trying to describe is Shaman, a GUI front-end to Pacman.  It has an option to sit in the tray, and it will tell you with its icon if it is up-to-date, is updating, if there are updates to install, and if something goes wrong.
