Hmm, I've never heard of the mixer variable before, but if yor willing to try, there's another way to get the volume (which is actually what I usually do).

Yes. This works, but it takes resources. I was thinking if the variable exist, you must be able to use it. Right?

Sorry, but ${mixer Master} worked fine for me. As well did ${mixer PCM}.
Have you checked to see that the device is in face called Master"? (Silly question, but just to make sure)

Mmm, this is wierd.
${mixer Master}
Gives me an value of 14, while alsamixer shows me 22.

14/64=.21875 or rounded, 22%
Alsamixer shows the percentage, while Conky is showing the value out of 64.
Offline
64/64=1 or rounded 100%.
Ohhh . But is there a way to get it to percent with conky then?

There should be, at least that's what I get from reading the changelog (2009-02-17)

I agree that it should be showing percentages instead of raw values, but showing the percentages with only conky, I know not how.

So did anyone ever figure out how to get mixer to display percentage? It's really confusing to see this number out of 64 rather than the real %

No, i think a default percent value would be nice.
