The previous version like 2.2 would let me check the 3d acceleration, but in 3.02 it is grayed out. The guest is Windows XP and I installed guest additions in safe mode of winxp through Devices -> Install Guest Additions.
I'm using the opensource ati driver.

are you using virtualbox-ose or virtualbox_bin?
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Now I have a weird video error, whenever I start the VM. I got the newer vbox-ose 3.0.2-2 now that it reached my repo.
After that I tried uninstalling it, cleaning pacman's cache, and then installing it again, but I get the same, so it isn't corrupt.
It does this even if I don't check 3d acceleration. Tried rebooting, which aslo didn't work.

You took a picture of your screen? >.<
Did you install the Guest Additions in the guest OS?

haha
caelestis, what video card and driver are you using on your host OS?

I had to take a picture, because when I did print screen, the VM window loses focus and everything returns to its normal color.
Yes, and then I deleted it and made another virtual disk and thats the image you see, it's still not working on a fresh copy.
My videocard is an ati 9700 mobility with the open source driver, but that shouldn't matter, it's not specific to my system, the previous version 3.0.2-1 didn't do this, and 2.2 didn't either.

3.0.2-1 didn't do becase you hadn't had 3d acceleration enabled but now you have. the problem that you described i had it to in windows xp but i don't remember how i fix it. so if you don't want that uncheck 3d acceleration or you can try(just for testing purpose) virtualbox_bin and see if you have the same problem.

The transparency issue is to do with compiz. There's a few workarounds, the one I use myself is to press right-control to release keyboard control of the VM and then press some short-cut key that I'd previously set to 'force indirect' in compiz's key bindings.
Basically, startup compizconfig settings manager, go to Extra WM Actions, enable it, and use some key-binding for Toggle redirect. I use <Super>w. So when I startup my VM, I press right-control, make sure my mouse is still on the vm, and press <Super>w. Works like a charm.

Hi!
Did you resolve the problem?
I have the same error running virtualbox, konsole, shaman and many kde apps: i think it's a QT related problem.
It occurs only when these windows get focus: if you click outside these window then screen colors became correct.
Any idea?

Nope. Also, other QT apps work just fine

Mmmh...maybe that's different problem.
In my case i just resolved it downgrading ati-dri and libgl to version 7.4.4-1.
Now everything is fine (virtualbox, vlc, and every kde app)
I hope that will work for you too.
Ciao
