Using a movie file as webcam.
I have a friend who is a great fan of the movie `The Ring,'
I was thinking a nice joke, to play the cursed video as webcam in a Skype call.
In other words I'd like to make a video call using as input not a real webcam, but a movie file (the audio does not matter).
It is possible somewhat? Like convincing mplayer to use a device as output?

)) It's not so easy, but why is it good for him to see it on skype instead of won pc ?

but that would defeat the whole point of your joke.
