xf86-video-intel update 2.7.99.901-1 -> 2.7.99.902-1 together with xorg-server update 1.6.1.901-3 > 1.6.2-1
This update procedure breaks blender here (no matter if blender 2.48a-2 or 2.49a-1): When clicking or just hovering over a menu item blender won't update the screen anymore as soon as the menu is supposed to pop up (until the mouse leaves the whole menu bar again). Makes blender unusable for guys like me who don't know all the shortcuts by heart yet.

Same here, again...
No pop-up menu appears.... the space they should be stops refreshing, creating that "predator" effect.... but now the render window shows without artifacts....
Think they are not evolving paripassu... All the new technologies of intel video for linux must be scrambling Blender, in one way or another....
Well, time to downgrade!
( Lucky I haven't pacman -Sc for a while, exactly because of this specific problem blender & intel video... )

Downgrading to xf86-video-intel 2.7.99.901-1 and intel-dri 7.4.4-1 solved it....

Just for the record, downgrading xf86-video-intel 2.7.99.902-1 -> 2.7.99.901-1 was sufficient here (and the subsequent xorg-server downgrade). I really hope this gets fixed some day. The intel driver has made some huge steps and I hope we will one day be able to enjoy the new technology without the bugs.

But if you think it's a bug really, post it, if there isn't yet.
